Can someone please tell me what a locator form is, where to get one and what it does.
Just in case I need to go anywhere.
It seems to one of those things you have to have.
You don't need to print it off. When you submit it online you will receive a pdf in response that contains the QR code needed. You can show this document on your phone or print it off if you prefer paper. The locator form is not useful for anything other than a route to obtain the authorisation document

Where do you make a start to get this magic locator form. What does one have to do?
Next question. What is an authorisation document and just what does it authorise me to do?
You will have twigged by now, I know nothing.
Thanks, so far.

Passenger Locator Form is required when you travel into most countries. So depending where you are travelling to you will have to complete a form produced by the government/health service of that country. It contains information as to how you entered the country, flight number, ferry number , where you will be staying in that country, a telephone contact number and your Covid status. You have to advise if you’ve been fully vaccinated and/or had the relevant tests required to enter the country.
These forms can normally only be filled out a couple of days before travel when you have all the relevant information such as seat number on a plane or proof of a negative test if required to enter the country. Only once you’ve entered all the information will the form be finalised, usually producing a QR code which is scanned and documents checked as you board your flight
I suppose you could say that is an form you need to complete giving you the authority to travel, but that’s not the terminology I would use.
Residency status, type of passport or age doesn’t make any difference the form has to be filled out to travel. No completed form and you won’t be able to travel.
