It may help someone to contact you if you can say whether you will be in La Marina, the urbanisation, or La Marina, the town. The urbanisation comes under the jurisdiction of San Fulgencio and the town comes under the jurisdiction of Elche.

The cheapest way of playing golf if you’re here short term, ( or even resident) is to join a society.
Jan/Feb are the most expensive times to play as it’s high season, Font is currently charging 195€ for two green fees and a buggy, so a single player would be looking at about 115€ per round. Golf courses have increased their prices enormously over the past couple of years, so that figure could well increase in January 2025.
Society price will be much cheaper, will give you a choice of courses as well as a variety of partners and the price usually includes a bite to eat in your local bar afterwards. Most bars have societies and you can always join two or three if you want to play a few times a week.

Thanks for responding. I had looked at a number of golf course websites and they seem to offer 3 month memberships and Font is offering it for a little over €600 which seemed a good deal compared to others. I haven’t considered a society but would be interested nearer the time. Someone on the forum has responded and is interested in playing at that course and has played there before. To be honest I was surprised at cost not having looked before. When you say most “bars” what are you referring to and how do I explore that route ?

Are you staying in the village or on the urbanisation - so someone can give you more local information but nearly all expat type bars will run at least one society, if not they’ll give you the name of the nearest. For instance I’m not a golfer, but hubby runs a couple of societies, so I can think of at least 20 different societies running from the El Raso and Quesada areas. There’s got to be more than that number running from the bars in the Cabo Roig area, an area also extremely poplular for golfing holidays.
Also bear in mind that the vast majority of tee times will have been booked a year in advance by societies or golf holidays, so as a club member you’re left with a limited number of available tee times. Even with your membership you’ve also got buggy fees and insurance costs as an add on each time you play.
As an add on, bring plenty of golf balls with you, they’re expensive here.

Hello.
Contact pro shop attention Barbara, she is the senior caddy master.
I would suggest you explain that you wish to purchase 3 month membership for the dates mentioned and would like to join one of their societies. would they please forward your details ie contact number and email address to a members society - requested if you could join them for the said period.
Members at FDL have a regular tee time and are very helpful. (I was a member for 5 yrs there).
It’s a challenging course especially front 9, prevailing wind is usually into you. A buggy would be helpful and some long walks between green and tee - especially to the 9th tee.
Wear layers as it can be rather cold at time. .
Do drive up there prior to the date as some people do miss the turn off.

Thanks for the very helpful advice. I have emailed them on their standard email address so will contact them on the email address you have provided…address it for the attention of “Barbara” ? Is it worth stating where I will be staying or does that not matter ?
So is the idea is that I still purchase a 3 month membership or do I pay via the society? If so is that cheaper ?
I prefer to walk as it’s the exercise I want as well as the golf but I guess that depends on what playing partners want.
Are you no longer playing there ?
Sorry for all the questions I have not played in Spain before so just trying to figure out best route and proto

Hi
Pay at the pro shop.
A lot do walk, easy walking, a few inclines on the back 9.
I advise purchasing a guide book - the course as per hole either runs to the left or right - so essential to get the book. Hole 1 for example keep left with your drive, same goes for hole 2.
might be an idea to play a round late afternoon to get the feel before playing with the society.
No we left there 2 years ago now. Wanted to finish a lot of DIY and large garden projects.

Hi what about El Plantio (google info)
they Always reply to enquiries - good short term green fees, not too far to drive, easier course for walking as well, good price offers.
Societies play there, some on a regular basis - again ask for assistance.
Try before you decide which course to join temporarily.
Good luck
