We used them about 6 years ago and it was very straightforward. We booked an appointment on line, took the relevant papers and it was pain free. If I remember rightly we got our NIE numbers very quickly after the appointment.

I am organising my NIE in October, I contacted a Solicitor in Malaga who I found on Google, He will arrange the NIE I just have to send him some forms, a copy of my passport and pop into his office to sign a power if attorney he does the rest, the cost is120 euros which is the same as a colleague paid for a gestor to do it, the difference being I only travel to Spain once to do the poa. The Solicitors firm I checked out, good reviews and offices in various cities.Should be easy to find similar in your area, without the hassle of Consular visits.Hope that helps
