I think you’ll like SUNSET. It’s on the headland at Playa del Cura. further around the coast heading towards La Mata you should definitely try BAR LAVENTO. It’s a big Spanish galleon overlooking the sea. Open all year round. Continue on along the sea front and there’s Fusion and Vela beac...

...h.  Both owned by Bar Lavento. You won’t be disappointed. Again, open all year. Not far from these restaurants going uphill to TORRAMARINA ( Big Mercadona there). You’ll find Sanaps & Ketchup. Upmarket and great food. Close by is BAYSIDE. Always one of my regulars.
Los Locas. LA BOCA. Overlooks the sea. Delightful. I could keep going but you may prefer to dine on the south side of town and I’ve only offered the north side!!

Try Sands restaurant lovely food and warm welcome to all. They do a really good roast on a Sunday too. It’s in Torriviejca

Hi Fred,

we went to the Sands Bistro a few years ago when staying in Torre, i'd agree it is well worth a visit. Good food, good prices and very good service. Hard to get into without a booking though. You can see their menu online.

Aitch.

Just wondering 🤔 is it just me or is there a lack of nice quality places to eat around Torrevieja and Ouihuela Costa ?

Tried many and lots have been lack lustre and some have frankly made feel quite ill..

Spain of old that used to offer good quality small dishes freshly cooked every day does not seem to exist anymore .....🤷‍♀️

If anyone has any suggestions - I like to support independent businesses especially when out here on holiday but do not want to feel ill on holiday.....

Just wondering if anyone has tried FINCA REBATE? I think it’s somewhere near San Miguel and I’ve heard that it’s in a small and quaint village but can’t find out much about it, sounds very Spanish?

Interested to hear any reviews please.

Thanks

Julie

Hi Julie,

Yes, we went there with friends several years ago - and we've never been able to find it again!  (Although it took me 3 attempts to find the Morrocan tea house near Crevillente, so I probably just need to try harder! 😂)

https://fincarebate.es/

It's a big restaurant, although we had a table on the terrace, under the trees.  You park at the bottom and walk up a short hill, past a small Chapel (where they officiate weddings) to the elevated restaurant - the views are lovely.  We had the tasting menu and it was excellent.  The maitre d' and sommelier were super helpful - such a surprise compared to some of the little Spanish bars we used to go to - but as the saying goes, "It's horses for courses" 🙂

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you Kim, good to hear it’s worth a visit. Know what you mean about the tea house, that long long track down there, and then it was closed!

The Finca Rebate is on the CV952, if you go onto their website they even give directions, it's about 15 miles outside Torrevieja, one of our favourites.

Great thank you. Is it a bit of an occasion type place or a bit more rustic?

I would say it's a bit of an occasion place with lovely gardens if the weather is good. We normally go at lunchtime and very often they have traditional live Spanish music.
