Absolutely Jan! That's why I've asked Luke to share a link to the company from where he's bought his plan 👍
Kind regards,
Kim

Yes Kim a link would be brilliant for everyone. I didn’t take out a plan because I had been really hassled in the past by funeral plan companies accosting me outside shops etc I decided to always have 5000€ set aside in the event I needed it….which I did sooner than expected.
One thing I would like to point out, the sala (like a chapel of rest where you can view the body)where your loved one is laid out costs over 600€ per day. I only needed it for a day as it was in the middle of a bad covid moment and I was asked to move quickly as the sala was needed for poor covid victims and the crematorium had very few slots for the same reason. My friend the year before needed the sala for 10 days whilst she waited for all the family and friends to come to Spain for the funeral. So the sala alone was over 7000€ for her. There is no way that can be factored into a prepaid plan.
Now I have had time to look I see that many so called ‘complete plans’ are to do with the funeral director side of things and often the crematorium is not included as they are a separate business. It is certainly cheap if they are doing everything for 3000€ in the uk i.e less that £3000.
one point I would make, a friend told me that you should only go with a funeral plan company who is part of the FPA (funeral plan authority). No idea if that is true but might be worth investigation.
Not sure if any of this is of help to you, I just don’t want anyone out there to get stung.👍

I briefly looked at the website out of curiosity. In the T and Cs, as far as I understand it as I did not tead every tiny detail, it says that they are only a broker.

I agree, Stephanie. I suspect Compare Funerals Ltd. brokered a plan through a company in Spain, but I was hoping that Luke would check and advise the forum, as the price is very cheap, especially considering he believes that it provides a total service.

It won't cost a penny if you donate the remains to any investigation institution (University, Hospital etc.).
Yes it will there is a minimum charge of 1000 euros for transportation of the body to the University

The cost of a very basic cremation at Torrevieja Tanatorio, no service, no one in attendance, this year was 4,167€

Hi there, yes that in my opinion is the cheapest, thanks for the info Myra. Mine was 600€ dearer than that probably because I had the Sala velatorio for a day. I am intrigued now to know how a company can do it for 3000€. I hope Luke gets back to us with the details because it will be very important information for us all in the future.

Hi Kim,
Yes you are right Kim Compare Funerals ltd are an English company however they operate in Spain and have a base in Cadiz, I did all the checks on them before taking out the plan for mum and its all legit and above board. Another thing i thought was brilliant is it doesn't matter if mum pass...

...es away here or in the UK her funeral will be taken care of with no extra charges.
If I was undertaking due diligence looking into them-
There only seems to be one limited company with that name. Only incorporated in last few months with one resigned director already. I would not trust them with my money if it is the same company:
Facebook profile is style and no substance (reviews):
(1) Funeral Plan Comparison. Take Away The Burden and Have Peace Of Mind | Facebook
Recent website with reviews but all recent and ? independence / customers. No information about any underwriting:
Compare Funerals Ltd North Devon | Independent Funeral Plan Consultant (compare-funeralplans.co.uk)

Thanks Portet. At least the company director is "Michelle Leson", not Luke Mason 😉

Lol Kim I see where you are coming from. The company doesn’t instill much confidence in me I’m afraid. Anyway I think we can say a basic funeral will cost around 4000-4700€. This won’t include repatriation, or several days in the ‘chapel of rest’ while loved ones make the journey over. Nor will it cover a church service.
I would imagine in some ways it is even more distressing if your family think your funeral is covered and all of a sudden they are being chased for the difference when the plan falls short.
I can only say that putting money aside til I had 5000€ worked for me. It’s only the same as giving it to a funeral plan company every month. Cash in a box in your house is not going to show up anywhere when it comes to declaration to pay inheritance tax (which the company in question mention several times as a scare tactic). Trust me I went thru it all last November. Hope this helps.
