Good evening.

I was told that there are farms in Spain, like in the UK.

PYO fruits/vegetables. Maybe someone came across these farms?

Could you please let me know where  are they and how to google them correctly? Are they in the Torrevieja / Murcia / Alicante area?

Thanks a lot for the information.

Hi

Don't understand what you are looking for about farm and fruit. I've got a small one (2000m2), orchard and vegetable. Do you want to buy a farm or fruit and vegetable ? Or just visit ?

I let a post in this forum, and videos there and to come : https://www.costablancaforum.com/area/aspe-spain-13/gardening-plants-insects-pests-in-aspe-157/ecological-gardening-165772/?status=new-topic-added

I'm looking for a farm where you can visit and pick fruits (strawberries, raspberries and ext) there. There are  many farms like that  in the UK. It's called PYO (pick your own). You come to a farm where they grow berries or vegetables. Pick them yourself, pay money and leave .

In a sort, this is what I'm doing. Beeing small, my garden could feed this year around 4 families per week. Now it's time for plum, pears, peach and some apple, all organic. Peach and apple are weak front the pest, so I got a small production whitout defect.

You are in Torrevieja, and I'm in Aspe, 25mn from you, so if you like to take a look, welcome. I had fixed the value of my production, so you could change vegetable and fruits for equivalent value of rice, bread, fish, all things I can't produce myself ! :)

Back in the U.K. I used to live a five minute walk from a PYO farm, but they developed so that the farmers didn’t have to pay for labour. There’s nothing nicer than a freshly picked strawberry.

I guess because everything is farmed on a much bigger scale here, that PYO isn’t an option, but you are also unlikely to see anything advertised as strawberries are grown in the Huelva area.  It’s a bit of a long journey for a punnet of strawberries.  Strawberries when in  season here are much cheaper to buy than in the U.K.
I used to enjoy my strawberries and cream watching the tennis at Wimbledon. I now have my strawberries and yogurt  for breakfast whilst watching the tennis in January, but it doesn’t have the same attraction

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Yes, I have some strawberries, but not so much. And I try the berries, but failed because it's to hot and hard ray sun here in south east spain. I don't think you could find it in Alicante region, nor in Murcia.

One of my berries bush survived (covered partially with straws) and I make cutting to multiply it, and with project to plant them in the shadows of my fruit tree. Experiences.

And I have the Goji bush, it's a berry bush. This bush survived the drought and sun, but they are still young. Hope production next year.

Most of these kinds of products are grown industrially, The main strawberry area is Huelva, as stated by Graham. There is currently a furore over this as the sheer volume is destroying the local water supplies. The Murcia region is full of industrial size ‘farms’ supplying most of Spain as well as export. They are not organised for an afternoons entertainment picking fruit.

Unless you find someone like Victor, your chances are remote, I think.

Hello, unfortunately no one answered. I'm not sure, but I think they don't exist in Spain. And if there are, they are very small and family-run.

Regards.
