So we had our first water bill in at over €800!!  Only owned the property since mid December.  Obviously we have checked the meter with everything off and the dial is still turning.  No signs of a leak anywhere so assume it must be on the supply in the ground.  Anybody recommend a water leak detection company local to villamathat could trace and repair?

Feeling gutted

Thanks for reading

Many thanks for the reply.  We have a communal pool so it’s not that

Hi Stuart am thinking you are on Pau as you status, I am interested in this as we have just taken over a property on there in the last few weeks, we had all our bills on a cut off point via the Solicitors  prior to taking over so the previous owners paid up until then so hopefully no nasty extras, but that seems way to much will be interested to hear from you of the outcome please

Stuart

I had exactly the same problem with a bill of €740 for one quarter. I spoke to gestagua and they came out and checked if there was a leak between the meter and the house. This wasn’t the case but they told me if it had then the bill would have been reduced. I finally worked out it was my neighbour as we had a communal water meter box and she had siphoned the water from herebut I had to pay the full bill 🤬.if you are with gestagua call in on thurs afternoon to speak to stefani(office beside captain morgans) -she speaks perfect English and is very helpful and should be able to advise rough idea of when spike happened in usage.unfortunately the whole thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth

I called leak-tech and they managed to come out the next day.  They found the leak under the building and with an hour it was all fixed.  They are hopefully emailing us a report so we can take it to the water company. Just glad it’s sorted tbh

Leak tech managed to fix the leak, it was a cracked fitting under the building.  Must have just been bad luck as we have been shown the last bill from the previous owners.  Leak tech are emailing us a report that we hope to take to the water company to see if they can do something with the bill.

Thank you for that information Deirdre.

I've had no water for 24 hours and they're saying there's an unpaid bill from over a year ago?! Its madness as I pay a monthly d/d  and up to date!

Anyway, just spoke with Stefani who is as helpful as you said and going to see her this afternoon to sort out. 😊🤞🏼
