My elderly Jeep reaches its thirtieth birthday in December this year.  In the UK you can apply to the DVLA to go onto Historic Status at 30.

This means no Road taxes and no MoT necessary.  It does advise that the car should continue to be well maintained which I am certain most Classic cars will be.

I believe in Spain you can do something similar but I have no idea of the procedure or what benefits you gain from going Historic.

I'm sure someone out there will have the necessary experience who can help me.  Thanks.

One thing I can be certain about is that it won't be as straightforward as the UK.  Rubber stamps guaranteed.

When I matriculated my bike several years ago I asked my Gestor about going the historic route. She said that I could if I wanted but she said it wasn't worth it.

I didn't.

Thanks for that.  I was hoping someone would come up with the pros and cons, if it saves the annual tax and need for ITV then I'll consider it.

Why have Historic status if it doesn't give you any benefits?

I'm sure that there are pros, but I was told that, in my case at least, they were outweighed by the procedure and cost involved.

If you check here you'll get all the correct info from Trafico (DGT):

https://www.dgt.es/nuestros-servicios/tu-vehiculo/vehiculos-historicos/como-hago-mi-vehiculo-historico/

It's in Spanish but google translate will help.

Thanks for that lead.  I'll have a look.

In UK historic vehicles has to be minimum 40 years old.

You are absolutely right, my mistake.  I still need to check what is required here though.

Many thanks

Perhaps try contacting one of the classic car clubs on the Costa Blanca, most likely some club members would have gone through the process with their vehicles.

In Torrevieja the club is https://carclubtorrevieja.com/
