Hi

Looking to have a bulk gas tank installed at my property having trouble getting hold of anyone from Repsol for a survey for the installation and wondered if anyone has had one installed recently in the area.

Also what are the pros and cons of switching to the bulk supply i.e. cost of gas. I have researched this and have had a variety of different costs, and wanted to know more from those that have their gas delivered in this manner

Hi Phil

I recommend you do your research as everyones experience will be different.

Have you tried speaking to someone at your local fuel station? In my village the people who operate the petrol station also arrange tank installs and top ups etc.

My understanding is the tank install and fill is free, or a small deposit fee. You then pay a guesstimated monthly charge and when they come to top up your tank the credit/debit balance is sorted. This MAY differ from area to area of course.

Hope it helps, main thing, find out for yourself!

Hi

Thank you for the message funny enough I was talking to someone yesterday and Orba Gas it seems does this so I will try them but thanks for the info. I thought it was only the majors like Repsol & Cepsa that supplied the tanks but good to know

Can I ask, who you went with  Orba Gas, Repsol or Cepsa and why?  I ask as I am looking into having a bulk gas tank installed, buy not sure who to go with.  I don't like the idea of being tied to one supplied for X years.

Thanks in advance

Hi Syd.

Things moved fast after my post. I had booked to have a new drive built, which required the re-location of my existing gas bottles x 6 and manifold, that was going to be later in the year, then the builder wanted to bring the work forward by about 3 months so I contacted the majors again and Repsol, or their agent in Benidorm to be precise was the only one that answered, came out and done the survey, agreed to where I wanted the tank and then sent out all the paperwork. I had to have a lot of the original pipework relocated the gas bottles reconnected as I couldn't get a refund on them.

That didn't cost me anything for the work but I had to pay upfront for a full tank of gas, (Not used any yet as I am burning through the bottles slowly). Now when I want to a refill I can have any amount.

The agents in Benidorm were really good: Proindegas in particular Jefe Santpau Agullo, spaek English as my Spanish non existent

Hope this helsp

Hi Phil

Thanks for the quick response.

So far I have had only Cepsa out to survey my property.  The tank is free, however they want circa €300 + IVA the pipework.  Initially they wanted to tie me to their company with a 10 year contract, but have since reduced it to 5 years.  So basically they can charge me what ever they want whilst I am tied to them.

I am currently having a base constructed for the tank and some property alterations made to accommodate the proposed pipe runs etc. (Tubes installed through walls & steps etc) However I have not signed up with anyone just yet as I am still trying to understand the cost of the Gas etc

I am also thinking, do I buy the tank outright myself, then I can buy the gas from wherever I want.

Hi Syd

I didn't look at the outright purchase of the tank so no idea of that cost but with Repsol all the pipework and delivery etc was free, only tied into a service contract for one year but that wont start until this August , a year after my first delivery of my gas

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Hi Dave or is it Dee ?

Initially I made contact with Repsol direct via their website.  Repsol handed everything over to Poindegas.

The Tank Installation + Repsol contract plus loads of help, inspection, tank filling etc etc was all via Jaime Santapau based in Benidorm jsantapau@proindegas.com
