Hi Odette,

There are quite a few threads and posts in this forum about residency application you can search, Jim Taylor has just recently posted this gov's link which might be the most reliable source to find out all requirements:

http://www.ciudadanosextranjeros.es/publicacion.php?id=14&lang=en

If you are a state pensioner you can apply for the S1 form at DWP Newcastle to get state health insurance in Spain, as well as an employee (with a work contract) or self-employed in Spain paying your monthly stamp (so called Autónomo system). If you'd need private medical insurance to apply for residency, we can help you with a quote and full ID of benefits, limitations and medical directoy if you would like.

After one year being resident, you would qualify to buy into spanish state health system, so called 'convenio especial' , you can see further details here http://www.gva.es/es/inicio/procedimientos?id_proc=17044 (only in spanish)

Kind regards,

Alfonso - Gran Alacant Insurances
