Hi,

I'm trying to find out if I'm allowed to travel to Spain before end of may  to sell my house. There is so much conflicting information that I want clarification. I'm not resident.

Does anyone know what number to ring, I've looked at the web site and I can't a number for travel or general advice.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Cisco54,

This subject has been covered extensively on here in the last couple of weeks.  The UK government website says that you can LEAVE the UK for "buying, selling and renting property", but the Spanish government does not currently allow you to ENTER Spain for that reason, unless you are a Spanish citizen or Soanish resident.  The Spanish government decides the rules for entry at its borders, not the UK, so a British embassy will not be able to help, only a Spanish embassy.  It also says on the Gov.UK website that you should check entry requirements with the authorities of the country to which you want to travel..

However, I have seen one example of someone who said they had a letter, signed by a notary, confirming that they were attending the completion meeting for the sale of the property in Spain and were granted entry.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi

Is there any indication when the Spanish government will allow non residents of Spain back in to Spain allowing them to deal with their property affairs, legal or maintaining,or dealing with rental of property.

Thankyou

Hi Kimmy,

Thanks for reply and good on those who have got across to Spain. If all of the EU can travel into Spain them stopping non resident uk home owners from travelling is just petty and leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Hi 765,

I had hoped restrictions on non-residents entering Spain would be lifted on 9th May, when Spain's national State of Alarm ends, but a friend told me this morning that she saw something on the news last night suggesting that the restriction would not be lifted until the end of May.  I need to check this out and find an official source - correct, or not, I will update this thread.  In the meantime, if any other members also heard this, please advise.

Kind regards,

Kim

I had got my hopes up about 6 days ago when puig said he would relax the borders and then a few days later this came out contradicting what the pm had said...

""BOE 103 of 30 April has extended the borders closures to non-EU countries into the Schengen area until 24:00 on 31st May to all but citizens and residents of Spain and Andorra and for essential travel purposes.""

I don't know who BOE are, unless another name for Spain's given., but it's seems someone is pulling the strings of Spain's government.

I don't have the links to these as too busy at the moment but read it on the ciudad quesada forum under "updates"

Hi Cisco,

The BOE (Boletín Oficial del Estado) is the official gazette of Spain - it's the place that new laws passed are published, so about as definitive as you can get!  That's a blow for second-home owners, though I expect they would still need to be fully vaccinated in any event.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Thanks for the boe explanation.

I can't get my head around this accepted need for vaccine proof when the vaccine still permits you to spread and get covid, that's why, despite what we were told, you still need the rip off covid tests.

Ah well.

Hi Cisco,

Personally, I think the bottom line is that governments don't want us to travel, but they don't want to play the part of Big Brother; instead, they're putting rules in place that make it difficult (and expensive) for us to do so, and abdicating responsibility to citizens in the process.  The mention of "Schengen" in the BOE suggests to me that this is driven by the EU, rather more than Spain.  Spain has made it clear that it wants (needs) a tourist season this year and has also said that if the EU doesn't make speedy progress with a pan-EU vaccination 'passport', Spain will proceed on its own.  Hopefully, by the end of May, the UK may have added mainland Spain to the 'Green' list 🤞

Kind regards,

Kim
