We are travelling to El Campello from Alicante Airport.   From the research I've done I know that we can take a bus from Alicante Airport (C6) an get off at Marq Castillo, cross the road and get the Tram to El Campello.  I've just a couple of questions:

Does the C6 go anti-clockwise?  So we would get off at Vazequez de Mella (Marq Castello), the stop after Plaza Puerta del Mar?

How do we pay for the Tram - do you need to get a ticket before before getting on?

We arrive this Sunday, I've seen that tram fares are free on a Sunday in July - is this correct?

Thanks in advance

Jacqui

I can confirm that the tram fares are free for June and July. Not sure about august.  I travelled to Benidorm the other Sunday for the experience.  Very crowded with standing room only. At the larger stations there is a ticket office. Otherwise there is a ticket machine on the tram.  On Sunday you just board the tram, just be prepared for the rugby scrum.

Hello Jacqui,

Yes as Geoffro says all Alicante trams are free on Sunday until the end of July.

Just to add,  yes the C6 airport bus travels anti clockwise around the city.

You can get off at Marc Castello and continue to ElCampello from there on the tram.

But I would advise you to continue on C6 bus to Luceros which is just approx two further short enough bus stops.

Then go down escalator at the fountain into the tram station.

As all trams start from there you should be able to get a seat for your journey to El Campello.

P.S.  masks still required on all public transport.

The fabulous Mediterranean and blue skies will be on the right hand side as you travel.   Enjoy :)

Perfect, thank you for your help.

Just to add, we got the tram from Marq Castillo, our local stop, last Sunday at 4.20pm towards El Campello, barriers open (you do usually get tickets at machine before barriers) and got a seat for two of us, but fairly crowded and may be a good idea to go to Lucerus as suggested if there's lot of you/luggage etc. Was jammed on the way back and standing room only all the way...

Thank you, think we will go to Lucerus - thank you to everyone for advice.  Jacqui
