Is there a number to ring when people are walking around restaurants without wearing masks, endangering others by refusing. Too frightened to say anything as there was a mob

You could download the app AlertCops, I have it on my phone but never needed to use it yet so not sure of any type of response but maybe worth a try.

Hi Coletea,

Did you speak to a member of staff?  There are now punitive financial penalties for business owners not enforcing the rules.

We were in a restaurant recently and as my husband got up from the table to use the bathroom, he forgot his mask - a staff member reminded him, with a polite explanation that both he and the business risked a hefty fine by not complying.  I think some customers take that message better from the staff than they do others customers and whilst a minority think they're above the law, I suspect some just don't understand all the rules.  I wonder how some people will cope with the latest rule - no smoking on bar/restaurant terraces and in public streets 😊

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi K2. I have still to access this advice re "bar terraces".(re smoking).

I have seen the info re public places (ie: street bar table situations. Have you the definitive report? I have interests with a couple of bars with private terraces & as today, they are unsure. V2

Staff came and said nothing, all they had to do was agree masks have to be worn all the time unless at table. There would have been no problem.

Sorry, my fault & thanks, but no, I was referring to the recent advice regarding smoking 17-18th this week.

Hi V2 😉

This was the original report regarding a regional ban in Galicia:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-53763267

More recently, although not as explicit as the first, this refers to the ban being extended nationwide:

https://www.politico.eu/article/spain-bans-smoking-shuts-nightclubs-under-new-coronavirus-restrictions/

There were also reports in the usual regional press and freebie rags - a report in The Olive Press said, "....people will be prohibited from smoking in public spaces unless they can maintain a distance of 2 metres".  I wonder how that can be achieved on the terraces of bars and restaurants where the tables only have to be 1.5m apart...... 🤔

Apparently, Spain's Health Minister, Salvador Illa, instructed all the autonomous regions to introduce the ban on Friday 14 August, so it's a very recent change.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks. I'll have a look when finished .                 F1 in Barcelona ( on the TV). X. V2
