Hi, it will depend on the cover you choose and your own personal details. I would contact the companies and get a quote, It won't cost you anything other than a short bit of your time.

Hi Susan,
I agree with Adofeegs, it really depends on your individual circumstances. By way of example, my husband and I have mid-level cover with ASSSA, aged 63 and 60 respectively, no pre-existing conditions and no co-payments - annual premium is Eu 1,780.
Kind regards,
Kim

This forum is of enormous help to me. I'm waiting to sell my house in Ireland and permanently locate to Costa Blanca, I'm looking at properties in either la florida or la zenia. I'm a single woman and I need to be within walking distance of the beach and zenia boulevard and all the amenities. I also need to be amongst English speakers. Its something I've been thinking about for a while, so it's now or never. Of course its going to feel quite overwhelming living in another country, but I'm going to go for it. Life's too short

Do I need to apply for residency to live permanently in Spain? I am hoping to buy a house around the Costa Blanca area. Is it easy enough to use their Spanish health care? and other facilities. Some one told me that I need to prove that I have enough to live on to allow me to live in Spain, is that correct, or have I been misinformed?

Hi Susan, you have been advised correctly. You will need to demonstrate means and have health cover. The fact you are Irish and an EU resident I assume will mean you won't have to jump through the hoops with residency and house buying that non EU nationals have to. When looking at private health care you may need a level of cover that meets residency requirements. You are right to go for it,life is too short. You also seem to have done your homework on the practicalities of where you want to live. Best of luck.
