Hi everyone,
We are looking to get a gas hob and gas boiler for hot water. We have been approached with the special offer from the natural gas company that is going round at the moment but we only use our home for holidays at the moment and wonder if bottled gas might be a more economical option. Any ones experience would be grateful.

My wife and I use bottled butane for the hob and for hot water.
We use just over 2 bottles per month - so around 40 Euros.
But there is zero standing charge .... so your numbers will depend on how often you use your home.
If you decide to use bottled gas, you will need a safety inspection and a contract from CEPSA (or REPSOL). This is cheap, maybe 100 Euros, and has to be repeated every 5 years.

The bottle prices are set by government with no standing charges , the gas companies prices and standing charges are not and are subject to change on a whim , cast your eye around at others installations and check the workmanship and finish , absolute rubbish , how they get way with it god knows ………….!!!!
Then make your choice .

Wouldn't bother for a holiday home. The payback period against the capital investment is about 10 years. Or at least it was for us.
If you are planning to move here it's worth it if not maybe stick with bottles but if you want central heating it's a must.
