Wanted: Portable air conditioning unit
I’m thinking of purchasing an air con unit...portable type with water tank. Has anybody used them. How would they compare to the installed air conditioning

Hi Patricia
I personally wouldnt use a water type AC unit. Have you done a web search or checked youtube for them? (very helpful information)
I also have purchased a regular portable AC unit but found that the exhaust hose was kicking out more heat than the amount of cool air it was providing!
The solution, for us, was to spend 80€ on ceiling fans for the bedrooms. 55w and cost about 2€ per year to run.
We have found the ceiling fans are a much cheaper, quieter and healthier solution.

Thanks for info. We have ceiling fans in bedrooms but find them noisy. Maybe there are more modern ones now that are not as loud. When did u buy the portable air con unit. Just wondering as I saw some in Carrafore which was near €300

It was just over a year ago that we bought and returned the AC unit, the really hot July we had in 2017.
If your ceiling fans are noisy I would suggest you buy new ones, perhaps utilise the ones you currently have in an outdoor space or somewhere else where the noise wont be an issue. We barely hear ours.

You are very welcome.
There are many available and many places to purchase them from.
