Bringing our dog over for a few months and wondered if there is likely to be anything either on the beach or in the water that we would have to watch that the dog doesn't pick up.

None of the beaches in the La Mata area are on the official list of dogs allowed beaches so, before you take your dog on the beach, check for the signs and/or ask the town hall.

That does'nt stop the Spanish, I was   down on the front at la mata yesterday for around 4 hrs  , loads of dogs running around , several with no leads [ and incompetent  owners ] and chasing the feral cats ..!!

This also happens on Moncayo beach as well, where people just ignore both notices on the boardwalk  approach as they  take their mut  down to the beach ..!!

One rule for the locals and one for anyone else …!

Hello:

It is offensive that you say "One rule for the locals and one for anyone else …!" since the law is the same for everyone. Sure Spanish people dont follow the rules but... can you say "everyone else" follows the rules always?

It is offensive since he suggests that the police would put a ticket to English people and not to Spanish people.

I don't contradict myself because I said the law is the same for everyone and that English and Spanish break the laws too, not just Spanish.

I have been here all my life, I am Spanish.

If I had a dog I would like to go to the beach with it, even if it is not allow. I would not go in summer but sure in winter. I know the risk but if I go when noone is on the beach I think the police would not care about my dog.
