Hello All

We have just purchased an apartment in La Mata for holidays initially.  Neither of us speaks Spanish, although we are having conversational lessons with U3Amember but finding it difficult.   We have visited twice now and are trying to get the apartment to our liking.  We have just had to buy a new bed as the one in situ was not long enough for a 6'4 person.  (I am going to give the other bed to charity...if I can find one locally). We would love to meet other Brits in the area when we next visit as previously we have only heard the occasional British accent when out and about.  This is our first venture into buying abroad and can only visit for short periods as  i have a 14yr old dog (Lhasa Apso) who sometimes has separation anxiety when I leave him with a sitter.

Just found this website and it appears to be great and I look forward to looking at it more fully at a more reasonable time of day...it's now nearly 1am!!  Thanks for reading this.

Hi

Its a great place.  I brought earlier this year mostly for the winter.  There is an U3A group in Torrevejia and one of the groups meets for coffee every Thursday morning at a restaurant between LaMata and Torrevejia.  Its on the 2A bus route.  Great place to meet fellow brits.

Some of the ex pats go to a bar called Bocaditos (especially on a Tuesday night).  It may be a bit quieter over the next few weeks as many of the Brits have escaped the peak of the heat! The bar is one street back from from the beach close to Avenida los Europas.  Enjoy!

Hi.  Thank you for your reply. Sorry it's a bit late but still gotta get into looking at this site regularly.  We will certainly look into this when we come over next month.

😀 no worries!  I’d say by mid sept things will be back in full swing! There’s a nice bunch of British and Irish semi residents.  There is also The Sands bar which is owned by Australians but that tends to be more popular with holiday makers.
