We are going to buy a table and chairs to have on our rooftop terrace, in the beating sun and salty air. What type of furniture does not rust? Does anyone have a brand name, or where it was purchased, suggestions, or pictures please? Does it help to apply an anti rust protective wax?

I'd suggest rattan. Depending on your circumstances buy the best you can. I bought KUBU brand name and it still looks as good as when I bought it 8 years ago. Don't buy rattan with fixed covers though, loose covers are better so that they can be removed for cleaning.
If you do buy rattan, clean it fairly regularly with hot soapy water to keep it in the best condition, let it dry in the warm air. The 'red rain' causes a build up of dirt.
The negative with rattan is it's light and will fly around in high winds so maybe consider some plant pots to box it in during stormy weather.
