It sounds like you've not read any of the numerous threads on this forum about this topic - please do so, as it's already been covered ad nauseum.

Taking this topic as an instance, it should have been posted in the 'Taxes in Costa Blanca: Suma, NIE and general tax advice' sub-forum.

You can browse that forum - there are only 7 pages.

To pick up anything that's been posted in the wrong forum, or to ease searching a forum with loads of topics, use the search facility at the top right. In this case, I'd put NIE in the search box. In the location box, I just put the letter a, as this forces a search of all areas.

At times I use Google search instead of the forum search facility, telling Google just to search costablancaforum.com, viz:

nie site:costablancaforum.com

Apologies - I was rushing a bit and took the topic as NIE, whereas it's about healthcare and so in the correct sub-forum. That's got 24 pages, but I still recommend browsing the topics, rather than searching, as it would be difficult to choose search terms to do a forum search.

In five minutes I'll be away from here for three days, and probably won't look at the forum during that time. But there are plenty of people who could help you.

Are you in receipt of the UK state retirement pension? Whether you are or aren't will affect the advice you need to be given.

Hi.....You will need to get your social security number.  It might be useful to get your padron from the local ajuntamiento also.  To  get your social security number take originals and copies of your NIE certificate, Passport and Padron to the local social security office, Benidorm is probably your nearest one, together with a completed and signed application, (available on line),, TA1. There will be a ticket machine to get your appointment number. This will advise the table number you should go to when your number is shown on the appointments screen.

The process is pretty simple, the staff are usually helpful and appreciate a bit of Spanish being spoken to them. It usually takes around half an hour in my experiences. (I have taken several people, family and friends to get their seguridad social and have had no problems but I do speak a little Spanish, which helps).  You should then take your NIE and Social Security certicates to your local Medical Centre and go to reception and ask to apply for a SIP card,( It is very advisable to ask a Spanish speaker to go with you to help). They will take all relevant details and issue your card there and then.   If you have any questions or concerns just send me a message or check online for info.   Hope it all goes well.
