Hi,
We have lived in La Siesta for over 19 years and love it here. The area you're talking about is El Chapparal just up the road, basically El Chapparal, La Siesta and San Luis are interlinked forming one large urbanisation. Please don't confuse an urbanisation with a community like many do. You can have communities within urbanisations. Basically an urbanisation is like a housing estate whereas a community is a cluster of dwellings that have rules and regulations that are voted for and have a president and you pay a fee each month/ year for the upkeep of the community area. Hopefully someone who lives on a community will give you more information if required as we live on the urbanisation but not in a community.
Are you looking for a holiday home or becoming resident as a lot of people who are looking for a holiday home choose the community living as they dont usually have to worry about upkeep and security whilst away?!This is one of the many things to consider.
We chose this area after renting here for 6 months before deciding to buy, something I would recommend to anyone thinking of buying. We find it safe and feel comfortable if out at night but like any touristy area be aware, especially in the holiday seasons, there are pickpockets around.
We wanted to be on an urbanisation with good bus links, restaurants and cafes nearby as with supermarkets, hairdressers etc as my partner can't drive so if anything happened to me he had everything on his doorstep. Although it's good to have all these facilities we didn't want to live right near them, noise and traffic in holiday seasons, so we chose a quiet road that's close to the Centro Salud.
Take your time looking and don't be rushed into buying as some estate agents will see you really like somewhere and to get you to buy it tell you they have others interested. Do not depart with any money until you are sure and never use the estate agent's solicitor as they only have their interests in mind.
Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for :-)
