NIE

If anyone has an appointment to obtain an NIE number make sure it is registered in your own name. 3 weeks ago the rules changed. Accountants/ laywers etc were booking block bookings and selling them on and some not turning up for their appointments. Now the booking has to be in the name of the person applying. We know this because a family member went for an appointment and they would not except the booking. There is now a waiting list until late July/ August unless you can get a cancellation. I dont know if this is the case if you are buying a property but if you want an NIE for working purposes this is the case.
