Hi, me and my Wife are registered residents hers now. As I'm not quite retirement age we have had to take out private health insurance. We cannot get a flu jab as we are not on the health system here( cannot even pay for one) and therefore doubt we will he able to get the covid vaccine when it is out. Pleade if anyone can help with any information, let us know.

Many people who are not registered on the health system were able to pay for flu vaccinations here, two places that come to mind are............. http://www.imedtorrevieja.com/en/ and https://www.quironsalud.es/torrevieja/en Both were advised and used for the flu vaccine. If/when the Covid 19 vaccination becomes available privately , you could contact both via these links to see if you can access it there & ask about the cost.

You can ask your private doctor to prescribe the flu jab.
Take the prescription to a pharmacy. They will order the jabs. When you get them, you keep them in the fridge, then take them back to your doctor for injection.
Ours jabs were branded "Chiroflu". They were 9.18 Euros each.
Re the Covid jabs, I agree with elinspain. But, suggest you check with your insurer who may put a process in place.

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum!
We had the same concerns as you. Coincidentally, I asked my Spanish teacher today about the Covid-19 vaccination for residents with private healthcare, in view of how difficult it was for us to get the 'flu vaccine this year. Her opinion, which I think is logical and I agree with, is that it's in the interests of everyone to achieve the greatest vaccination coverage we possibly can (Spain is proposing a register of people who decline the vaccination). There are many Spanish people who have chosen private healthcare over State provision - my teacher's husband and his parents are Spanish civil servants, and they opted for private cover as part of their employment contracts so, again, this will be on the Spanish government's radar. She also believes the government will need to make it free for everyone, in order to achieve that maximum coverage.
Realistically, given mine and my husband's ages of 60 and 62, with no medical conditions, we're not high on the priority list. Even assuming there are no issues with supply of the vaccine and everything goes to plan, I think it's going to be at least September before we're called in to get it.
