Sent a diary from UK to my sister in Moraira..paid full postage plus tracking fee...only to discover she was charged €20 when she collected it.  Disgusted!! What is this all about?

Import fees and handling charges maybe.
If the package wasn't clearly labelled then customs may have had to give it more attention which will cost you. "Gift" is no longer enough.

Brexit

😳

Not much more to say except perhaps that diaries are not exactly rare items in Spain!

Lesson learnt I hope.

It also works in reverse.  I too ordered a book from UK.  Paid full pull plus p&p only yo be charged €8 at the P.O. to collect it.  I can only asdume that this has everything to do with UK being out of the EU and sadly is now the way forward.  Best thing I've found is if you are sending to UK, try UK based sites like Amazon.Uk.  if anyone is sending to you here in Spain get them to look at Amazon.es.
