Hi we have moved back to Uk end of jan2020, paid our taxes and also to deregister ourselves from Spanish citizenship, hadn’t heard from tax office for over a year now they are saying that we still owe them more money.

More money for what?

Perhaps if you can explain in more detail then you may get a better response.

Hi Jill68,

When you say you've de-registered from Spanish "citizenship", do you mean "residency"?

The Spanish tax year runs from 1 January to 31 December; as you didn't leave Spain until the end of January 2020, it's possible that you have some residual tax liability in Spain for the first month of the 2020 tax year - for which you would need to complete the Modelo 100, income tax return, by the end of June 2021.

If you can provide more information, we may be able to offer a more accurate response.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Jill,

Yes - a little more detail as Kimmy and Tebo suggest. No longer resident or TIE holders is one thing but if you still have a property here then non-resident tax is due....and quite soon aka in the next 4 weeks.

Best wishes,

Dave ('n J)

So log on to Suma and see what they think you owe...should be minimal or nothing Jill. If you have no personal tax obligations, no property assets then easy. If your working status was otherwise, then they may be seeking some recourse on that...don't know...more detail needed really.

Cheers

Hi Jill68,

Who has made the tax demand? Agencia Tributaria or SUMA?  Prrsumably you've received some kind of communication, or have they just taken the money from your account?  Unless you're prepared to share more information, we're just guessing at why the demand has been made.

Kind regards,

Kim

What's a non resident tax? We are buying a villa and I've not heard about this.
