Hi I have read various recent posts re broadband providers. I have bought a place up on the el aspre urbanisation and I think I have the following options:-

1.  Movistar - asdl of about 5 megs download or 3G/4G where they cannot guarantee which one or the speed but want to charge 60 euros a month; or

2. aeromax wireless of 25 megs.

My two questions are

1. has anybody actually used the aeromax service and are they any good ? and

2. locals on el aspre have talked about fibre but Movistar have never mentioned this in all my contact with them - they refer to my distance from the exchange affecting the speed but don't say where the exchange is.

I don’t know your urbanisation but there are companies which instal fibre without a phone line so Movistar wouldn’t mention them. I would ask some of your neighbours as there may be a fibre network already on your urb.

Good luck

We live in the campo so no landline. We have small satellite dish, aeromax, and no problems, excellent service. It failed once so I rang them, they are multilingual, and they rang back within an hour with explanation- Iberdrola was doing works and damaged something - and it was fixed within an hour. Local agent supplied and installed, did all cabling, connected router and set it all up. Really no problems.

We live on El Capso. We had Aeromax installed about 6months ago and apart from some initial problems that seeemed be caused by a plug in range extender. Once we ditched the range extender device we have had good service. All you need is a line of sight at your villa to their aerial and the local installer will check that before offering you the service.  I understand that high speed fibre has been installed in Orba and rumour has it that it might eventually be extended to the surrounding urbanisations - we await developments..........
