MY HUSBAND RECENTLY CAME OUT FROM HOSPITAL WITH A PRESCRIPTION DATED 26 NOVEMBER 2019 UNTIL 26 NOVEMBER 2020.

WHEN I WAS RUNNING LOW ON THE MEDICATION I WENT TODAY  23.12.19 TO THE PHARMACY AND THEY KEPT TALKING ABOUT THE 10 DAYS.

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS.

I don't know the ins and outs of it all but the process with prescriptions in Spain changed recently. Prior to this you had to get your medication within so many days of the date on the prescription so I assume this was the 10 days they were talking about.
In my local Centro de Salud I used to take my old prescription to the desk and have to wait anything from one day up to a week for a new one which was a pain as I am on long term medication. It may be worth going in to your doctor to ask what you should do, especially if you are running low over Christmas and New Year. An alternative is to ask if you can buy over the counter this time.
If I remember correctly there was a post about it some time back so maybe someone else will be able to provide the link but it should all work out easier for you in the future.

You have 7-10 days from the date on the prescription to collect the drugs for that month.

If you have run out you will have get another prescription from your doctor, the new prescription takes priority making the original one nul & void.

I disagree - that used to be the case, but the new system means that items should still be available whenever you want to collect them.

It happened to my husband in November Jim.

When was it due to change?

It started at the beginning of November but, as Ray says, there were teething problems initially, although SAN GVA say these have now been overcome.

The point to note in your case is that a prescription doesn't expire in ten days from date available, but remains available during the full (normally a year) validity period of the prescription.

Ahora su receta no caduca durante el período prescrito (la medicación que necesite siempre estará disponible en la farmacia).
