Separation issues with our rescue dog?

We have a rescue dog who has anxiety separation when we try to leave for even 10 minutes.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Carole

I have a Cockerpoo who goes mad barking even if I tie her up with myself in sight going inside a shop.  I have tried the leaving for 10 minutes at home at a time and ignoring her but it is a problem as can deafen everyone around.

Now I think it is attention seeking and if I come out to her when tied up and do the "finger bit" to her ribs and not say a word I feel that is at least her feeling she is getting my attention.

Have trained Rotweiller, Alsation, Labaror and all sorts but am tearing my hair out so will be interested to see what responses are given as I am also desparate.

Why tie her up at all!

As I have to go to the toilet and some places won't let me take her. Please let's stick to the question in hand as it is easy to side step and the lady asked the question and I don't want this to turn out to be about me.

Carol my friend said there was an episode on the Dog Whisperer on this. The suggestion is a dog cave. A small crate or box made comfortable as their save den. Let them go in and out as they wish for a while with their own blanket and toys inside. Do not feed them in the dog cave. Apparently it the feels safe for them so when we go out they go in their dog cave. Do not lock them in.  So I will give this a try. What do you think? After all when I get anxious a safe place makes me feel calmer so can't hurt?

There are always times where they have to be tied for shops or toilettes if you are on your own and not allowed inside with your dog. It is a hassle but rules are respected.

Thank you, I will try the dog cave as this is the first time I have had a dog with this problem, if this does not work then we will get a dog sitter in when we are unable to take her with us,  I am going to have a chat with the Vets next week to see if they can help me with the situation.  Many thanks Carole
