My son and his partner plan to visit in July ,she is from South Africa and therefore needs a visa . I know she needs the invitation from me but what I do after that is very confusing ,I believe it needs to be verified/stamped be fore she can present it for her visa application. I have looked on various sites but they are conflicting , if anyone has any experience of going through this process or knows where I can access the correct information I would be most grateful . I need this asap as I know these things can take time .

Many thanks

Thanks for the link ,I’ve seen this information but wasn’t sure if it was correct as my son seems to think that the police simply stamp the letter of invitation when I present it too them once they have verified the information and checked all my ID documents.  I’ve got someone trying to check with the police to advise me but wanted someone who may have gone through the process . Thanks for taking the time to reply much appreciated fingers crossed I get it sorted 🤞

Hello

We successfully applied for one during lockdown for our daughter to visit on compassionate grounds. You make the appointment online with the relevant police station, depending on where you live. We live in Torrevieja and had to go to Alicante, as there are only certain police stations that can provide this service. You present and leave your documents and they send you away to pay at a nominated bank and then give you an appointment to collect the approved document. This is generally for the day after, but we managed to get it later that day.

Hope you manage to get sorted.

Thank you so much that gives me a feeling of confidence and sounds reasonably easy , my son and partner live in Taiwan not seen them for 3 years due to covid , so fingers crossed it’s that simple . My Spanish speaking friend has arranged for us to go to police station in Elda so hopefully we’re at the right place .

Thanks for your reply it’s eased my anxiety a bit 😅

Did you phone for appointment or do it online ? Also do they speak English or should I take someone with me who speaks Spanish ? Final question other than the Invitation letter what other documents did you need .  Can’t thank you enough for your help

We needed ID, TIE, Utility Bill, Padron and Copia Simple to prove we owned the house that my daughter was to be staying at. We have limited Spanish and managed to navigate everything, but might be best to have someone with you if you don't speak any Spanish. The appointment was made online and you download the form that you need to complete and take with you, this is the application form and not the actual carta de invitacion, you get that from the police.
