Hola everyone, thank you for letting me join your group!

I’m a single “senior “ thinking of buying a small holiday home in Santa Pola..

Would it be a friendly place to meet people?  No idea yet where to look! I’m definitely a sun 🌞 person and your location close to airport with your beautiful beaches seems a great place to start and would be an easy journey for several trips a year!

I’m also learning Spanish too! I’d welcome any feedback thank you all.

Hello from SP!

SP is a nice town to live in if  you aren’t looking to get England in the sun. . It is still very Spanish.  I was looking at statistics yesterday , as it happens , about the 33,000 population.   There are only about 1,000 and something Brits registered as resident here . I did note that it had doubled in the last year…probably helped by those living under the radar finally getting residency and a few new comers.  Don’t quote me on numbers, my Alzheimer’s is showing its ugly head …but it was low .. There are far more French , Scandinavians & Russian accents around.   If you’re happy with that, then it’s a decent place to live. Low crime. Yes, it’s much quieter between October & May but it is a working town & therefore is “ open” all year .
There is quite a long frontage to SP , so there are a good 6 areas to choose from , depending on your needs .

I will send you a Pm as it’s a fair bit of text lol

Thank you for that information also, I am researching areas to buy a holiday home and the location to the Alicante Airport is great. I am from Ireland and would love to move for the winter months. My son loves golf but im not sure if there are any courses around. Are there public swimming pools to swim in the winter and what is the public transport like as at first I would not have a car and I would love to explore other towns.

We are going to stay in La Marina in January to check out the surrounding areas. If you have any other information I would be delighted to hear it, Thank you so much Colette
