Hi All,

Thanks so much for everyone who replied and sent PMs for my previous post.

We've been there before but not in the winter and the reason  we want a holiday place is for the winter time, especially after the Christmas and January time.

What is really like in Santa Pola in the winter(Dec and Jan)

We chose Santa Pola because it's quite easy to get on a bus to go to the Alicante city and other towns and its not too busy like a city and safe for kids also have almost everything near by but would it be the same in the winter? Will some supermarkets, shops, cafes open all year? We like quiet but not totally dead.

Thanks in advance.

I was out there weekend of 18th to 22nd January, main town and harbour was busy still , our house is near Pola park which was a little quite , but santa Pola is a working town with everything open as normal  apart from a few bars along the beach . But like most towns it will start to get busy in march / April

You will need to find a property which has heating throughout if you intend staying over winter.

Hi, I’ve just had my first winter out here and on the whole, daytimes are pleasant. You may need a jumper or a light coat but in the evening, the temperature drops and you won’t want to sit outside having dinner. You will need heating, lots of people have calor gas heaters as a bottle of gas is fairly cheap and lasts quite a while.

My apartment is by Levante beach but fairly close to the fishing port and the castle  almost everywhere is open throughout the winter although they seem to close earlier.
