The Tormos Ayjumenta are being particularly difficult in providing a padron. We have residentia , a Spanish rental contract and yet the have asked for an official authorisation from the landlord. We got this and now they want to see the passport of the landlord snd the certificate of their NIE .

We have never come across this before . Is it something post brexit . Or are they just being downright difficult .

Whenever I had to produce my rental contract pre brexit the landlord´s dni was also requested. This was for padron (signing on not renewal), water meter change, gas contract etc.

This doesn't mean every town hall does it, things can and do differ.

I think Myra has given you good information. You may already know this, so apologies in advance if you do, but an NIE is only given to non Spanish individuals (Numero de Identidad Extranjero)

Spanish nationals are issued with a DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad) in the form of a photo ID card.

Thank you for the help I’m sure we will get there in the end . Certainly it was different in Pedreguer and Beniarbeig but you hat was 5 years ago. I just wondered if the rules had changed post brexit.
