Hi, as I sit in sunny lockdown in UK, I am considering different areas where my next house in Spain will be. We sold our Spanish holiday home almost 2 years ago and now looking to buy another one. One of the things I didn’t like was having to rent a car, as we were approx 40 mins from Alicante airport. So we have been looking around Gran Alicante, but wonder if it is a bit too built up. So we are thinking perhaps somewhere around Torrellano would be suitable - get taxi from airport and have our own car waiting at our new home. I have seen quite a few nice looking houses on plot from 1000sq m upwards. I have even read that I can catch the train to either Elche or Alicante and it is only a 15 min or so drive to the beach.

SO what do you think about the area, would we find plenty restaurants, bars, shops etc.

Look forward to your thoughts xx

Thanks Grahame for info. We have heard of this before but didn't know of any companies to contact. We don't mind the journey from the airport, just the car hire. So this will make a difference to the areas we consider. We owned a terraced house in Punta Prima for approx. 13 years, but decided we wanted something with a bit more outside space.

Janet xx

I agree Ray, the noise would be too much for me as the planes would be so low, plus the smell of the fuel.

Thank you for your thoughts. I had not thought about the smell of fuel and the planes would be so close. I will take a look at Santa Pola. Anywhere else you suggest looking at?

Maybe I'm just being biased as our house is there ! But there is no noise or smell  from planes at all , I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would reccomend more places, but from a personal point of view santa pola is perfect for us, good luck with your search

Have a look at The Marina as well, its in between Gran Alacant and Guardamar, plenty of international restaurants and not far from the beach.
