Any updates on the spanish driving licence yet for UK licence holders residents of Spain? Latest I heard was should be sorted by end July

I missed the straight exchange period to switch to a Spanish License mostly because of covid and having only moved here a week before the first lockdown. I have no property back in the UK so am retired here until I croak. I have NIE, Padron, healthcare for my partner etc. etc. and have had the same Bank account in Spain for 13 years since we bought our place here... WE'RE GOING NOWHERE FAST. I have a Spanish registered car which we bought 10 months ago registered at our address that we can't drive. I don't see any reason why we, and others in the same situation, have not been allowed to drive while the powers that be sort it all out. I'm 73 this month and my UK driving license will expire on that date and the DVLA can do nothing if I have no UK address...... IT'S ALL A BLOODY MESS because of bloody Brexit. We've done everything by the book and what good has it done... Rant over .... sorry!!
