When we bought many years ago, we raced into buying everything. Looking back and in hindsight, I soon became dissatisfied with some of the things we chose. Buy only what you need.  Please take your time.  Even make do with the previous owners things until you collect your thoughts. Step back and consider a colour scheme.  Your very mugs are items you will be using for years. I ended up buying M&S seaside scenes a few years ago and donated the ones I’d previously bought. Your glassware, again, don’t just buy any old wine glass. Slow down    You may think I’m being ridiculous and if you believe that you will be content just visiting your apartment then we’ll and good.

Furniture. Measure your living/ dining room.  DO NOT BUY LARGE  PIECES UNLESS CERTAIN.  MOST ROOMS HAVE SUPPORTING COLUMNS, measure area between before selecting  your suite/ sofa.  Living rooms usually aren’t as big as at home. Slow down.

Buying settee/ sofa.   Do not buy cheap.  Check to see if sofa cushions are reversible as this helps everyday wear and tear.  Cheaper ones aren’t reversible.

Check the springing.  Your sofa needs to be hard wearing and comfortable.

Beds.  Buy the best you can afford.  Vital

Many Spanish beds have storage in the base.  Make certain you can get large pieces of furniture into your building  Not always possible.

Visit Cortes Ingles in Alicante   You don’t have to buy there but their goods are all top class. Sorry  Take pictures of all the furniture, pictures, bedding that appeals you  for scrutiny!       Zara Home sell  the most beautiful household items Eg towels, bedding, lamps, crockery    Again, take pictures.

IKEA is a good place to visit to get pieces of furniture at affordable prices  There are people available on the forum who will collect and assemble if you need assistance.

I hope this helps

Buy longer length single beds   6’6”   Fitted Sheets available in Spain.

If possible, buy a good quality king size bed.  You’ll never regret it.

Hello

If your property is Lago Jardin in the Carrefour area of Torrevieja, then  they  & Hnos Garcia are both within walking distance and will have a good  choice of household items/furniture  & of course, will deliver.

Try Vega Fibre for internet service, they do a switch on switch off service so you aren't paying when you are not here

Funiture Central!

Bed sizes are different to the UK as are Ikea's so take special care with fitted sheet sizes.

Hi

We bought an apartment last year and did a big ikea order. We ordered online in uk ( on ikea Spanish website) then chose a date for it all to be delivered once we were over there. Was great for everything from a sofa bed to crockery and bed linen.  Hope this helps.

Hi Dermot

I think you mean Lago Jardin near Los Altos/Los Balconies.

i) try https://muebleshnosgarcia.com/ Also https://www.conforama.es/tiendas/tienda-conforama-la-zenia

i i) you may have access to full fibre internet via https://olecomunicacion.net/ or https://www.avatel.es/ I'm not necessarily saying they're best/cheapest but they're probably the two biggest suppliers in the area.

iii) from memory, which may be faulty, if you have a new mattress delivered they will remove the old one.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Steve

To dispose of furniture, etc. you should contact your local town hall (ayuntamiento) who should be able to adivse you as to what day they will be collected from the area by the rubbish bins (basuras).
