I have been using my e-bike five days out of seven but I invested in a decent quality e-scooter about 10 days ago and it is brilliant for getting around. Anyone else got one ?

Is it legit though?

Few are and if not then each time you use it you run the risk of having it confiscated plus getting a fine and points off a your  driving licence if you have one.

The dealers are "authorised" sellers for this model which is Spanish-made and they are also "approved repair engineers'

I did of course ask if I was covered to use it and they confirmed that it has day-running-lights, a flashing brake light, WHITE headlights of the approved standard for night time riding, a single disc brake and has a limiter to ensure the maximum speed cannot be exceeded.

But you raise an interesting question Villas and I shall do some more research and maybe get the dealer to scribble something on my invoice that confirms that they have assured me verbally that I am compliant with National and regional laws.  Which I guess would be "bylaws" in England.

I imagine the same question might be asked of the two e-bikes I brought over. Both comply with European and UK regulations and the dealer was very open about the law changing in Spain to make helmets and Hi-vis "reflective" outer clothing compulsory ( 2nd January 2021) - both of which I do when cycling.

I needed a You Tube video authored by an English speaker, resident in Spain and this one was very helpful and presented the January 2021 regulations very clearly, I thought

Thank you @Elinspain

Both my e-bikes are "pedelecs" and power is only delivered when the pedals are turning. There is no throttle. Twist-grip or otherwise. The e-bike pedelecs are legal throughout Europe.

Thanks for the link. And for your reply. Most helpful.

The N332 website (not Facebook page, although that does have some information), deals with anything to do with driving in Spain.   It is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people and has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.
