The road outside our house is public unmarked parking. Everybody can park there. Parking can be tight but it’s very rare that is a space not available. I’ve a gate into front yard and low kerb access. Parking inside gate not possible as have trailer and other stuff there. Nobody ever parks outside my gate or blocks it and I’ve been parking there myself as it’s my entrance and I’m giving neighbors a bit more room either side for their cars by doing so. Now a pal who’s lived here nearly 2 decades has said that by blocking my own gate and parking alongside a lowered kerb I could be committing a parking offence and get ticketed. Sounds strange as it’s myself I’d be blocking ?. I’d be very interested in any opinions

I suppose the thing you have to consider is that anybody policing the area wouldn't know that you were parking across your own drive and could ticket you for obstruction.

Just put a note on saying owner parked in front of own gate the do Google translate for Spanish wording.

I don't think for one moment it is a problem some people like to do scare mongering. Can you imagine the admin involved with people parking in front of their own gates claiming against the ticket.

Thanks. Very true. Quiet enough road and I’m only blocking my own gate anyway

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thanks. I won’t be looking for a Vado anyway as there’s no need and the drop kerb is into my own entrance. I’ve seen a few Vado’s around here though and the yellow area extends a good bit along the kerb beyond their gates. I wonder if those paying for the Vado for their entrance can even park in that yellow area or is that whole area taken out of commission

HI here is a interesting article regarding parking

No Parking or “Vado” Signs

Some people buy Keep Clear or No Parking signs at hardware stores and put them in front of their drives/garages. These signs are not valid if they are used as a Keep Clear sign or to prohibit parking on the public road, since the Town Hall regulates and has authority for parking regulations in the zone.

Remember that when you pay for a proper “Vado” or Keep Clear sign, you are paying to have the right of way of vehicles to your garage, not the parking space on a public road.  Some people think that they can park their vehicle at the door of their garage, where it has a “Vado” sign in order to be able to access the drive. Only when they are fined they realise that the Keep Clear sign gives them the right of free access to the garage, and it is not meant to stop other people parking on the public road in front of their access, but allow them to do it themselves. This is not the purpose of a Vado. Simply put:  a Vado means it cannot be blocked, someone cannot park there.

Maybe to get a definitive answer you should ask the question on the N332 Facebook page or their website.   If you have not heard of them, the sites are run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.

Can you park your car outside your drive in front of your own home in the street.

If it is a drop kerb with a vado permanente then no, you can't. It gives you the right to cross the kerb to get into your drive (hence the name permanent ford) but you can't park in front of it either. If no vado sign then yes but others can as well.

And be aware that some councils are removing the drop kerb for owners who do not have a vado permanente licence and charging the home owner for the work.
