I was asked to post an update on a query I had regarding SUMA and basura(rubbish) payments. Our lawyer contacted me to explain that both had been set up on direct debit and provided the paperwork to prove it. However SUMA appear to be causing all sorts of problems by not requesting payment and then issuing final demand letters which include charges for non payment. I have now left it with the lawyer to sort it all out and have been asked to take the bill I paid to them when we are next out and they will obtain a refund for us.

I have established that our basura is due approx January/February and again August/September for Torrevieja.

Our lawyer had not responded as she has been inundated with problems regarding this.

Thanks to all who responded to my query.

Setting up Direct Debits would remove the problem of getting final demand letters.
