Hi everyone

We want to bring our dog to Torrevieja next year to stay in our apartment.   What is the best way of doing this ? Does anyone know which airport around London we can fly her from and would we be able to fly her into Alicante airport?

I notice Brittany ferries offer a service to Santander or Bilbao but each date I look at, they say no availability for pets.  Quite confusing.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

best regards

I think your best bet would be to look at the websites of the airlines currently flying from the UK to Spain. I dont know of any airlines currently flying from the UK who do allow pets, but that's not to say there aren't any.

When we relocated from the UK to Spain 6 years ago we used Monarch ( sadly no longer) from BHX to ALC when we picked Lucy up from the collection area at the airport they did stiff us €30 never did get an explanation what that was for.

There was a post a while back saying that they flew Iberia to Madrid then took a train to Alicante.

Pet friendly cabins on the ferries get booked up way in advance but we found driving down via the tunnel with our dogs was pretty stress free with plenty of places to stop and many pet friendly hotels.

Try KLM I do not recommend putting your dog in the hold of a plane

We use Brittany Ferries dog friendly cabins, will not put our dog in the kennels on board although many do. If none available, which has only happened once, we drive via Eurotunnel staying overnight in France and then Spain before arriving in Torrevieja which is fine if you have plenty of time. I have to say the hotels in both France and Spain are very good when it comes to dogs, all very helpful.

Good luck!

I agree that Eurotunnel is the best bet with over night stays in France and/or Spain. Ibis hotels are a good option for taking dogs and are well priced.

Just one word of caution ( which caught me out big time) is be sure to check that your dog's breed isn't a banned one for these countries.

Enjoy!
