Hi ,  I am a male 66 years old and soon moving to Spain. I will be on the S1 so can go on the spanish health system. Can anyone tell me if you can get regular bowel cancer screening test kits every two years like in the U.K?

If so are they free or what is the cost?

Thanks

They usually send the kits through the post inviting you to take part without having to ask for them, at least that is what happened in our household. I don’t know if it is a regular 2 yearly option but the medical admin seems to be very efficient in our area.

Yes as already stated we got a letter inviting us to participate, once confirmed you got a kit through the post, which you then had to return to your local salud.

Well at least that was the procedure, before the health district changed hands last year.

Yep, same as Lynn, I received an invitation for the screening - and I'm not on Spanish state healthcare, I have private health insurance.  I assumed that, because I had to obtain a SIP number for my Covid vaccinations, that's how I was picked up for the bowel screening.

Kind regards,

Kim

In Orihuela Costa you can request a kit at the desk in the Centro de Salud.

Exactly the same for me. Private healthcare, below state pension age, but registered online for SIP to get my Covid jabs.

Had two kits which I returned, and got both results back on the 14th day as they stated.

I never had such a thing in 60 years from the NHS in the UK, but then I rarely visited my GP.
