Hi Joyce,

How good is your Spanish?  You need to make an appointment online with the INSS (Social Services) office in Torrevieja and, along with your SIP card, take the following documentation for your husband:

  • Valid passport.
  • Residency certificate (Green certificate) or TIE
  • Padrón certificate
  • Marriage Certificate*
  • Your husband's birth certificate*

*  They may require these to be sworn translations, bearing the Apostille of the Hague, proving your husband's relationship with you, as the person entitled to Spanish health care - it seems to vary from office to office.  UPDATE:  sworn translations not required at Torrevieja, but the certificates must be original documents.

My friends have just done this, but the hardest part was trying to get the appointment online.  We tried for weeks, but in the end, they used a gestor I recommended, Sophie Johnson, who was able to get the appointment within 48 hours - Sophie can be contacted on her mobile: 675 367 098.  I can't remember how much she charges, but I'll find out from my friends and update this post. UPDATE: Sophie charges Eu 30 for this service.

Kind regards,
Kim

Hi Joyce,

I forgot to say that Sophie's fee includes, as well as making your appointment, accompanying you and translating for you at the appointment.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi John,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  I've checked with Sophie and she is still doing this work.  Her contact number is (00 34) 675 36 70 98 and the best method for contacting her is via WhatsApp.

Kind regards,

Kim
