Hi myself and my wife are looking to book a holiday. We came last year and stayed in our friends mums place. We loved Torrevieja and really want to come again. Can any advise me if there are any hotels or if its better to rent an apartment. We would like to come late june for 2 weeks. Thank you

Apartment would be cheaper, try holiday lettings. Com.

Or have a look at the Hotel Madrid right in the town centre

Hello, if you choose to book an apartment, please make sure it has a Tourist Licence. On Booking.com, the licence number is displayed in the "fine print" towards the bottom of the page. If it does not have a licence, it is operating illegally and may well have been closed down by the time you arrive.

Hello, it is not the booking site which has to be licenced, it is the property itself/owner. Strict rules are now being applied vigorously and booking sites are required by law to display the tourist licence number. It is currently taking about 6 months to acquire the licence which may indicate how many holiday lets were operating under the radar prior to 2018. Many properties let out previously will not get a licence due to size of rooms, especially the main bathroom, being in a block over the 2nd floor without a lift, or being in a residential area, just for example. Authorities are accessing booking sites, facebook etc and they are obliged to give details of previous bookings which will then be checked against  tax returns. I hear that  heavy fines are being imposed and they are also turning up unannounced at unlicenced premises which will only increase as the summer approaches.
Many people were, and indeed still seem to be, totally unaware.
If you take a look on,say, booking.com for lets in Torrevieja, right at the bottom of a listing, under "Fine Print" the licence number, starting with V should be listed. If it is not, personally I wouldn´t touch it.

Hello Lorraine, we have a licenced Penthouse in Villamartin but it is occupied at the end of June. If you have other date options, we keep our recommendation.

Villamartin is everywhere nearby but you do need a car. It is about 15 minutes drive from Torrevieja.
