Looking for a job: Plastering

Hi I’m thinking of relocating to Spain. I’m a plasterer with 19 years of experience what is the likelihood of getting work?

Hello,
Don’t want to burst your bubble but work in the building game is very hard to come by!
The plaster they use is nothing like the UK gear and most finishes are rippled or taped and jointed ( board work) .
Also although construction is generally on the upturn rates are still very poor compared to UK ..I know one local who is half decent and is charging 7-8 euros an hour plus mats !
On proper Spainish sites they will need you to speak fluently and I would imagine you may be on 10euro an hour less tax etc! They are reluctant to give out pricework as well I have been told!
Maybe you could set up your own company and try and get work from expats as a starting point and possibly get your foot in the door with a couple local builders? Still hard but nothing is impossible and depends how much you want it! Good luck!

You may be best to research ‘British’ building firms, of which there are quite a few, because then you would not have to speak such fluent Spanish as the work would mainly involve ex-pats. But would think that you would still have to register as ‘autonomo’ with the subsequent tax and insurance requirements, ie self-employed, as very few companies take actual ‘employees’ as such due to the costs and legal requirements. But Basil quite correct, pay rates are not comparable to UK.

As long as you don't want crazy money you could do OK the spanish plasterers are rubbish in general
