Saw an article in yesterday's Sunshine news about some puppies that had been found and taken in by this charity won't mention name to protect the guilty, as the mum was nowhere to be found and the puppies so young there was a lot of extra expense not least for the extra electricity to keep the puppies warm and they were asking for donations.

As soon as we got home we went online to donate €50 naively I thought we would get an acknowledgement from the charity, how wrong we were. Emails cost nothing.

We also had some dining chairs a while ago that we were replacing  we emailed the charity ( not the one we donated to yesterday) asking if they would like them, they were in excellent condition we did not hear a thing back.

We can only conclude that these charities are so wealthy they don't need donations of any kind, well they wont be getting anything from us.

Seems like an overreaction if you haven't got an email acknowledgement within a day, maybe the Charity are busy looking after the puppies.

My thinking too. Most of these charities are not multinationals and probably running on skeleton staff relying on volunteers. Maybe giving and expecting instant acknowledgement by way of email within hours is the type of self gratification that isn’t afforded by the charity you’ve chosen. Maybe in future giving to a big national charity with a director on a 5 figure sum, backed up by a team of staff who’s job (paid on ongoing commission) it is to respond and attract ‘customers’ to ‘keep giving’ would attract a better response rate by email and possibly lead to a more gratifying interaction between giver and seeker. I know which I choose to give to. Just saying.
