Hi Andy,

There are a lot of rescue centres that frequently have puppies available.  I'd suggest giving them a call to ask if they have puppies that would be available for adoption in December.  We got ours from SATS in Dolores:

https://www.satanimalrescue.com/

and I support these too:

https://www.fincalacastellana.org/dogs-for-adoption

but there are loads of others you could call - just Google dog rescues in your area.

As well as the usual vaccinations that puppies have, ensure that wherever you get one, it has been tested for Leishmaniasis.  If negative, you can then have the dog vaccinated against the disease and ensure you buy a collar with the appropriate protection too.  SATS are diligent about this, but when we were looking for a dog, I contacted other rescue centres who were evasive about it.  Leish' is endemic in the Mediterranean basin (caused by the animal being bitten by an infected Sandfly mosquito) and some dogs can show little or no symptoms, but in others, it can be fatal.

Hope you find what you're lookin for.

Kind regards,

Kim
