I'm closing my Sabadell account and opening an online account.  How do I change my direct debits for utility, suma etc. Could I do this online or do I have to go to their offices?

Hi Dawn

I personally visited the offices when I was in Spain but quite a few of our members have managed to do this online.

There are a few different ways to try.

Log into your account with whichever utility and some of them have the facility within the account to change your direct debit, failing this, whilst still in your account you could write to the customer service team to give them your new IBAN number.

Also, have a look on the accounts as some have a chat facility or look for a phone number.

It's all a mixed bag really but with a little patience can be done from the UK, you would spend just as much time visiting and queuing at the offices in Spain.

Good luck, Ken.

Agree with Ken, Hydraqua is the biggest challenge! The others are more straight forward. Just persevere, it’s worth it in the end.

Hi Dawn. I too switched to Wize but from Caixa (the worst bank I have ever encountered). I transferred all my DD's online from the UK. I had only one problem and that was with our Urbanisation Administrators. I went to their offices and they told me they did not accept DD's from Wize, that was until I informed them that it was illegal to refuse a DD from a bank with an EU IBAN number. Quick about face and the DD was accepted. I am back in Spain in a few days and will seek assurances from our urbanisation president that this practice with stop since it is discrimatory to those people from outwith the EU. Hope everything goes well for you.

Thank you so much for this information. Very helpful. Going to try online to see how far I can get with it.
