Hi All

I know it is possible to travel through France and its very clear what needs to be done in France but Spain has one paragraph on the British website saying that travelling by car is ok. See below

Entry requirements - Spain travel advice - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
"Overland travellers to Spain and those transiting are exempt from the above-mentioned entry requirements, and are therefore not currently required to present a PCR test or Health Control Form on entry by road or rail"

With this lot in charge I'm not sure its correct.
What is the word on the street in Spain?

Word on the street is that no one is being stopped at road borders.

A couple of travelers have been stopped and asked the purpose of their visit, but that's a minority. No one has reported being turned back but perhaps unlikely they would!

Stay on the motorways and you should be fine. Don't leave valuables visible when taking breaks at service stations.

I accept that and helpful too, but the enquiry was about road travel France into Spain and so far I have not heard any reports of people being stopped and asked to show test results. In fact I have seen posts suggesting that the Spanish government have not made them a mandatory requirement for entering the country by road from France.

This sounds like just for flying or by sea entry into Spain?

It certainly doesn't make it clear, does it?

The requirement for a PCR test only applies to arrivals from the UK at Spanish sea and air ports:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements

"TESTING/SCREENING ON ARRIVAL

On arrival, travellers entering Spain from the UK will not be required to self-isolate.

However, from 23 November, all passengers (including children of all ages) travelling to Spanish airports and ports from ‘risk’ countries (as determined by the European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control) will be required to present a negative PCR (swab) test taken within no more than 72 hours prior to arrival, in order to enter the country. The UK is currently on the ‘risk’ countries list and passengers arriving from the UK are therefore subject to this requirement.

This requirement applies to all passengers arriving in Spain by air or sea, regardless of your residency status in Spain and the length of time you intend on staying. Property owners in Spain are subject to this requirement."

Kind regards,

Kim

I read the government rules yesterday and you don’t need a covid test certificate if travelling by road, If you arrive into Spain by air, shop eg Bilbao you need to produce your test result.

Now, you are all sorted but remember , if you are in Spain on 1/1/21 you must have a GREEN CARD for your motor insurance as brexit will have kicked in. BE WARNED.

Hi

I have just arrived in Quesada yesterday 16/12.  I travelled by car, left the UK on Sunday, I stuck to all the motorways and didn’t get stopped at all. I was quite shocked to be honest as didn’t see any officials not even at the border.

Regards

Michelle
