Tips on Car Hire
Helpful member
When hiring a car from Alicante or any other airports, car hirers should spend wherever time it takes to video and take pictures (inside and out) of the car you are going to hire, if possible before moving it. A lot of hired vehicles parked within the confines of an airport can be difficult to view in situ because of the small allocated parking spaces. If it is not possible to inspect your newly hired vehicle in its original parking area, drive it to the safest area within the confines of the airport to get a clearer view of the condition of the vehicle **understandably it can be more difficult at night** but achievable. Check the vehicle thoroughly under the front & back bumpers especially the front bumper (there can be a few roads in Spain with rather large pot holes) and remember to inspect all the alloys plus the exterior/interior condition. If you find the the finest of scratches or damage, refuse immediately to take delivery of the vehicle until they update their check list ‘there and then’ on the vehicle to your satisfaction. Unless you have it in writing of any visible damage don’t accept a verbal ‘Don’t worry you have reported your concerns’ You could save yourself money, hassle and the grief that thousands of hirers have had to go through. It can be more difficult to inspect a hired vehicle if you have children or it’s late at night but trust me it is worth it.
*** Please remember, most car hire companies do not repair minor damage on their vehicles.
