Hi,

Bit of a random one but does anyone know where I can get replacement batteries for solar lights?

I’ve tried Leroy Merlin, Media Mart and several Asia markets but no joy.

Thanks

My garden / outside solar lights are fitted with 18650 battery, these are the same battery used in electronic cigarettes

(vapes), good place to look might be a vape shop or vape stall at the market.

If there are no markings on the battery you can measure it, 18650 battery is 18mm in diameter and 65 mm long.

Hi, i never changed the battery, i opened the solar light, saw the wires were soldered to the battery and threw the old light in the bin as i no longer have a soldering gun, i just bought new lights.

However i see no reason to think they would not charge from the solar unit assuming it is the battery that is at fault.

Is there anything printed on the current battery that is fitted to your solar light ?.

Sorry I’m a bit confused. The batteries in solar lights stop recharging and working after you have had them a while and you can just replace them in most lights.  In the UK you can buy the rechargeable batteries to put in them in most shops. They are usually green in colour. I can’t find anywhere that sells them here.

Thanks

Are you sure that it's the battery that's at fault? It could be the solar panel.

We found that the plastic cover over our solar panel had degraded and become hazy, a bit like car headlights with sun damage.

I bought replacement batteries for my solar lights from the local Chinese warehouse. They look like AA rechargeable batteries.

They worked OK.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I’m after. Where was that please ? I’ve tried a couple near me and they didn’t sell them.

Thanks
