Be aware.....6month ago I bought a Siemens washer from Milan . The glass in the door just exploded. I took my warranty down this morning, they told me that glass doors and rubbers where not insured.I have to pay €47_50 for a man to come out and price up the glass . I am beyond furious. Please ask just what you are paying insurance for . Rant over

Thank you but Milars did this for me and they said someone had to inspect the damage
Did you take out the extended warranty?
We recently purchased a fridge freezer from them, and I have to say, they were brilliant.
Even though they work things different from the UK.. we even got free delivery with the extended warranty, and pick up of the old fridge..
With the original 2 year in store warranty, nothing breakable or removable plastic was guaranteed, but with the extended warranty, it was..
We might just have been lucky with the sales assistant, i dont know, she was very thorough!

No m afraid we didn’t but it is a learning curve ,Thank you
Hi Kwissy,
I'm sorry to hear of your unhappy experience with an exploding Washing Machine door, hopefully nobody was injured.
Usual causes are coins and other hard objects left in pockets of clothes hitting the drum whilst in the wash, alternatively, overloading of the drum with too many clothes ,or buckles and belts hitting the drum.
It is for this reason Manufacturers do not cover The glass in doors or rubbers around the doors. Extended Warranties, as mentioned by Bles may offer more comprehensive cover.
Some Manufacturers are introducing plastic covers over the exterior of glass doors to minimise dangers from broken glass. I think this should be a mandatory.Safety item for all new machines.

Thank you
Have a look at this; https://conversation.which.co.uk/home-energy/exploding-washing-machines-doors/#cpage-1
As you have already found out, the doors are not covered in the warranty as it would be very difficult to determine if the fault was with the manufacturing or incorrect use. The above article, including comments, seem to show that this is not uncommon and some manufacturers are starting to encase the glass in plastics to contain the glass if it shatters so this would be something to ask about if you buy a new machine. Other comments state that the shards of glass have ruined the rubber seals and got through the drum. Lots of fingers being pointed at substandard (cost cutting) manufacturing processes in India and China.
Yes, Spain is totally backwards or just out to con you on consumer rights.
We brought a hob from Leroy Merlin. It stopped working after a few uses, so took it back and just expected them to exchange it as that's what would happen in the UK, as it's the retailers responsibility, but they were not interested. We had to call the manufacturer and book a service engineer to come out to inspect it, that took an age. He then agreed it was faulty, so needed to order parts taking another lifetime before he could come to do the repair! Altogether took over two months!
As we couldn't cook we had to buy another so once it was fixed we now had two!
Needless to say I now avoid LM!
